Captain Jack Killman
Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Pacific
Captain Killman is a native of Sacramento, California, and graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He earned his commission through Navy ROTC at University of California, Berkeley, and was designated as a surface warfare officer. Captain Killman also holds a MBA in managerial leadership from Seattle’s City University, which he earned in 2001.
His sea assignments include serving as the communications officer aboard the guided-missile frigate USS McClusky (FFG 41). While assigned to the nuclear-powered, guided-missile cruiser USS California (CGN 36), Captain Killman held the position of chemistry and radiological assistant, and later was a shift engineer during the ship’s decommissioning. He was the guided-missile frigate USS Ford’s (FFG 54) combat systems officer and also the reactor electrical assistant aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Killman was the executive officer on the guided-missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG 61) and commanding officer of the guided-missile frigate USS Elrod (FFG 55). He served as reactor officer aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) before becoming deputy commodore of Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 4.
Ashore, Captain Killman served as the officer programs officer at Navy Recruiting District Seattle and his staff positions include surface nuclear officer program manager at Chief of Naval Personnel.
He also spent a joint tour serving as strategy and policy analyst in the J-5 directorate at U.S. Joint Forces Command.
Captain Killman’s personal awards include a Legion of Merit, a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign and unit awards that includes seven Battle “E” Awards for unit efficiency and effectiveness.
