Hailing from Pensacola Florida, Master Chief Hicks graduated from Booker T. Washington High in 1994. After spending one year in the Delayed Entry Program, he attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL in July, 1994.  After completing Basic Training, he attended Aviation Storekeeper "A" School in Meridian, MS. In December 1994, Master Chief Hicks reported to Strike Fighter Squadron EIGHTY SEVEN (VFA-87 Golden Warriors) as the Material Control Clerk.  In 1995, he deployed aboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71). While conducting combat sorties over Yugoslavia, the Golden Warriors were the first to strike Bosnian-Serb targets during Operations SHARP GUARD and DELIBERATE FORCE.  His second deployment in 1997 was aboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV 67), participating in Operation DELIBERATE GUARD. 

In Aug 1998, Master Chief Hicks transferred to the Atlantic Fleet Weapons Training Facility (AFWTF) Roosevelt Roads, PR.  He served as the Support Equipment Asset Manager for the Navy's premier combat readiness training range for all Atlantic Fleet Forces.  After the events of 9/11, he canceled his shore duty and transferred to Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE TWO SIX (VAW-126 Seahawks) as the Material/Maintenance Control LPO.  In December 2002, he deployed aboard the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. 

In Aug 2005, Master Chief Hicks transferred to the Head Quarters, United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.  He served as the NCOIC of the J2 Geospatial Information Section, providing intelligence products to senior joint mission planners.  During his tour, he was selected as the 2007 Joint Intelligence Center Sailor of the Year and the 2007 USCENTCOM Sailor of the Year. 

In Sept 2008, Master Chief Hicks transferred to SEAL Team TEN, Little Creek, VA.  In March 2009, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq as the Supply Officer for a Task Force responsible for conducting Direct Action combat operations on High Value Targets.  During this deployment, he was selected to Chief Petty Officer.  In March 2011, he deployed to Tarin Kwot, Afghanistan as the Commander Emergency Response Program (CERP) OIC for Special Operations Task Force-SOUTHEAST, conducting Village Stability Operations in three Afghan provinces.  

In March 2012, he reported to Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC), Patuxent River, Maryland as the Senior Logistics Analyst for the COMFRC enterprise and selected to Senior Chief. Other notable operational leadership tours include Naval Special Warfare Group FOUR N4 SEA, Naval Special Warfare Group ONE N4 SEA, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-IRAQ J4 SEA, SEAL Team ONE N4A, Logistics Support Unit ONE Supply Department SEA. Selected for Master Chief in 2018, he reported to his current assignment as the Senior Enlisted Leader, Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific, San Diego, CA. 

Master Chief Hicks is a graduate of both the Joint Special Operations Senior Enlisted Academy class 23 and the US Army Sergeant Major Academy.  He is the recipient of various campaign and unit awards as a result of the hard work of the service members he's served with.
