Command Master Chief Wilson is a native of Bedford, Indiana where he enlisted in the Navy in February of 1998. Upon graduation from Basic Training, he entered Basic Electronics Technical Core and Fire Controlman (FC) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois in May of 1998. After completing that he attended MK86 Gun Fire Control System (GFCS) “C” School in San Diego, CA. In May of 1999, Master Chief reported to his first command, the USS THOMAS S. GATES (CG 51), homeported in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
Master Chief’s formal Navy training consists of MK 86 GFCS, SWG-1A Harpoon O & M, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS), Command Career Counselor, Combat Systems Senior Enlisted, and the Senior Enlisted Academy where he graduated with class 167 (Green).
His operational tours include the USS THOMAS S. GATES (CG 51) as a MK 86 Tech; the USS VELLA GULF (CG 72) as LPO for Gunnery and Missile divisions, an LCPO for Combat Acoustics (CA) Division, and the VBSS LCPO; the USS ANZIO (CG 68) as the Gunnery Division and Weapons Department LCPO. He completed two Counter Drug Ops Deployments, a Standing NATO Forces Atlantic (SNFL) Deployment, a UNITAS, Counter Piracy Operations, and several Middle Eastern AOR deployments.
Master Chief’s shore tours include a Recruiter in Charge at NRD Indianapolis; LCPO for the MK 86 School House at CSCS Unit Dam Neck, and most recently as the LCPO of Naval Surface Fire Support at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific (EWTGPAC).
He currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for EWTGPAC.
Master Chief’s personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), as well as various unit and campaign awards.
